How is your prayer life?

God desires relationship with us and one of the ways we enter into that is through prayer.⠀

Prayer is a powerful tool - and weapon - in our faith walk.⠀

While God certainly doesn’t need us to accomplish his will, he invites us in as active participants to bring about his plans.

When we pray in the authority God’s given us we work together with him to accomplish his will and engage in the tearing down of strongholds.⠀

Prayer helps strengthen and spirit and grows us in wisdom as we hear from the Lord. Prayer really is a two way conversation.⠀

Prayer allows us to intercede for others in their time of need and for their salvation (we which still ultimately have to chose).⠀

Prayer keeps our hearts a tuned to the voice and will of God do we can live out the purpose he’s placed on our lives.⠀

And prayer provides the intimacy and space for us to seek repentance and restoration.⠀

When I was a new Christian I sometimes felt intimidated to pray. I thought I had to use fancy, spiritual words.⠀

But that’s not what God is looking for. He’s just looking for us to come to him. Like children to their parent.⠀

One way to approach prayer is to follow the ACTS method:⠀

Adoration - praise him⠀
Confession - repent of your sins⠀
Thanksgiving - give glory to God for all he’s done⠀
Supplication - make your requests known⠀

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
